I'm back from the ESCI 407 trip. I'm only sporting a minor sunburn in a few places and a nice gash on my left calf.
I took way too many pictures along the way (150ish) for class, about 15 more for desktop wallpaper, and couple just for the hell of it (i.e. good looking guys).
The new camera works great and the shots looks terrific.
I've learned more about north eastern Minnesota than I ever wanted to know, but yet, it's clarified my decision to go into geology/earth science education.
We had a fun night in Ely. Ely is as dead as I thought it was, but the beer made it better. I finally came out to Aaron (the Hydro Hottie). Yeah, he's straight but we was actually quite flattered to find out that I was interested in him. The blush was quite cute :)
To see him, follow these links. He's the cute guy in the blue polo shirt :)

The files are large, approximately 700kb (2048x1536).
I'm much more confident in my knowledge of the geology and names of the units/formations that we need to know for our test on Tuesday.
I'll be posting a nice new section on my website with pix/details of our field trip as well as be starting a new layout/content idea for my personal site.
*yawn* 7am was damn early after a 3am crash whilst drunk. I'm about to start singing Barry Manilow songs unless I get to bed.

Road trippin'
Our ESCI 407 overnight field trip to the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Mesabi Iron Range (the Virginia Horn actually) is just 2.5 hours away.
I've not slept at all (ugh) but I'm all packed and ready to go.
The new digital camera will allow all of you to finally see the infamous Hydro Hottie ;)
I'm off to have some coffee and some breakfast.

Ooooh...this was fun.
Friday can be summarized in one word. Shit.
9am, I wake up to a pouring rain. Our tropical airmass decided to wring out a little moisture. Only about three inches worth. We head out on our ESCI field trip and drive in pouring rain and a 20mph south wind all the way out to Granite Falls.
Boring trip except for the actual intelligent conversations with Aaron. He's not so bad at all and he never mentioned his girlfriend once.
It stops raining just before Granite Falls. We drive to the other side of the Minnesota River valley and stop to look back over the valley (created by the Glacial River Warren). We make some observations and pile back into our van, which doesn't start.
90 minutes later we're still in Granite Falls eating at Subway. We traipsed around Granite Falls for a while and got to see some really cool formations. We cut the trip very short due to inclement weather and lack of time due to the van problems.
Saturday morning as I'm shaking the cobwebs outta my head, I see my roommate stuffing things into his backpack. I was slightly startled, thinking it was Friday (again) and that I was late to my ESCI 407 lab. Even better, he left for River Falls, WI for the weekend about 11am.
It's almost been a quiet weekend. I've had the room to myself for the last day and a half. I've done some cleaning and need to do more. First, I need to do a lil homework in COMM 220, as I believe we are handing in our preliminary media folder assignments on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. I need to find my stories and do my analysis of them.
Songs hittin heavy:
Ultravox - The Voice
Sarah Washington - Everything
INXS - By My Side
Paul Kelly - Love Never Runs On Time

It's been awhile...
I'm back! I had to settle into my summer school routine, juggle some major f*ckups on the part of the university and some changes to my schedule.
In the latest news...I like summer school. Mass Comm 220 (COMM 220) is *easy* and a snoozer of a class.
Earth Science 407 (ESCI 407) isn't easy but it's stuff I like, so it's cool. The presence of Aaron (the hydro hottie) making an encore performance certainly doesn't hurt at all ;)
I started training at KVSC 88.1 our campus radio station. I'm doing my first on-air sit-in training on Monday at 1pm. For those people around St. Cloud or the Twin Cities, it's 88.1 or you can listen on-line.
I'm juggling my Summer II schedule slightly to drop CSCI 169 (Intro to Computers) as it's well below my knowledge. It's an easy "A" if I take it, but I could be taking classes I *need* instead of easy "A" classes.
I promise no more three week vacations from my blog. It's just been chaotic and adjusting to actually having to be around Jay, the uber-Christian roommate isn't fun. He's a total FREAK. Women getting the right to vote is part of the downfall of the American civilization. (alrighty then...)
Enough for now, I have homework to do and need to find dinner.
Songs in heavy rotation:
Ultravox - That Certain Smile
Alphaville - Big In Japan (Culture Mix)
Icehouse - Street Cafe
Dream Academy - Indian Summer
Dream Academy - Mercy Killing
Tragically Hip - Wheat Kings
