Howdy Ya'll

I just wanted to let everyone know I am sorta back. I can use my cell phone as a dialup modem so I have slow/limited access to things.

For the Twin Cities people, I'm looking to sell my laptop.

It's a Dell Inspiron 8600. Pentium-M 1.5GHz, 512MB PC 2700, 80GB 4200RPM HD, CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive, 15.4" Widescreen LCD (1600x1050 native), built-in wireless 802.11 b/g, modem and Ethernet.

It has some minor cracking at the bottom right corner of the lid but it doesn't affect performance. Otherwise, it does have wear on the palm rests and the bottom of it is worn. It does still have it's XP Home license key attached. I have Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn) on it now and it runs great.

I'm negotiable on the price, but I'd like to sell it sooner than later. Email me at bigbearjt@gmail.com or call my cell at 651-366-2878 if you want to know more or want to buy it.

If you just want to lend a hand or wish me a happy birthday (ugh, I can't believe I turned 35 yesterday!),

Offline...

Just a quick heads up. I'm off-line until further notice.

I'll have sporadic access where I can mooch wireless.

That is all. JT out.

Follow-up from yesterday

I did go to the doctor. I'm healing up well. Better safe than sorry.

I did get my med refills and tomorrow I'll have gas in the truck.

The cut that was made to get there was the cable. I'm not sure how much longer we'll have cable TV/internet but it's that or food...food wins.

That's all for now.

From bad to worse...

Hi kids.

I'm sitting here at work. Everything but my fan and one small beanie baby bear packed up into my messenger bag.

I'm sick of the shit here. I've come to realize that I have become the official dumping ground for issues that people don't want to get involved with or to wash their hands of an issue.

And so that's the work stress.

Money is a major stress as well as I realized that when I get paid Thursday. It'll still be slightly overdrawn after making money appear from "nowhere" for such things as gas, electricity, and other "non-important" things.

I'll have money for gas, but meds are out of the budget and I think I can scrounge up a bit of money for groceries to get through until next Friday. After Labor Day, it'll all be fine, but getting there does kill my vacation plans. I am currently scheduled off for the entirety of next week. It's my birthday on Thursday so I decided back in June to take the week off so I didn't have to do anything for a while and I could just relax and blow off stress. Guess what...I'll be working every day all next week. My vacation fell victim to my budget. I have to work all 80 hours to keep out of the "not enough paycheck for the bills". So much for stress busting...

I'll likely not be posting much until after Labor Day as being off my meds will adversely affect my mood and to a lesser degree my health.

So between money stress and work stress, I'm already in a bad mood... but to top it all off...

I was in the tub soaking last night and masturbating off and on. I was in one of the "on" sessions when I had a severe abdominal cramp and went from mostly laying down to being completely doubled over. Unfortunately, in the midst of that..I forgot to let go with my fist. I doubled over and pulled in so fast that I tore the frenelum (the stripe of skin that goes from the head to the shaft on the underside of the penis).

It's hugely swollen and painful. I'm having some problems passing urine due to the swelling. I have a doctor's appt tomorrow at 10:30am (which I can't afford and I can't afford to miss the two hours of work either). I'm more concerned because my foreskin catches behind the head while flaccid and I can feel it pinching on my shaft when it does. I'm quite worried about what will happen if I become erect. If that happens, it can basically strangle bloodflow to the glans.

There are three options to treat the strangled flow:

1: Gently(!) push the glans back through the constricted foreskin. Generally this is done with large amounts of painkillers for the patient.

2: A single incision to allow the constriction to release. (What kind of result does that create when it heals?)

3: Circumcision.

Now given the problems I've had with balanitis and inflammation of the foreskin, I was already considering the circumcision route. Now with this happening, I'm to the point of being all for it. I can't afford it. It won't be happening unless I do get the strangulation of blood flow to the penis or the frenelum completely tears.

I'm in need of a vacation and a stiff drink. I think I may go home tonight and have a couple of glasses of wine and play some Animal Crossing. That'll help me to relax.

I'm curious

How many people lost monitors and other computer equipment in the three rounds of storms last weekend?

Here, all the computers as well as the router and cable modem are an a UPS (three of them actually). But none of the monitors are on the battery back up, mine is actually on the surge protection side.

My monitor has gotten quite a bit fuzzier and has a dark region in the middle of it after the last storms on Monday. I'm wondering if it wasn't a surge/spike...did we have a lightning strike close enough to throw off the internal mechanisms of the monitor such that the electron gun alignment is now just enough out of tolerance to make it fuzzy. I suspect this as you can see a bit of a color halo around text and the like.

If this one fails, I'll fall back to my 15" LCD that somewhat works in Linux.

But now, does anyone have any real suggestions on brand, durability, size, etc for a new LCD? I'm definately thinking I want to go with a widescreen as I do watch DVDs on my computer and the pricing isn't that much different.

I'm looking at X221WSD 22: Widescreen Digital / Analog LCD. Nice size, good specs, and the price is right for the size and specs.

Wierd gift ideas

*oooh* As I type this, there is a large cluster of severe thunderstorms moving towards us from western Minnesota.

However, this has me thinking about two things:

My monitor is failing. It's occasionally turning very blue and doesn't always wake up after being put to sleep.

The other things is a piece of software that I want. Many moons ago, I purchased a license for Digital Atmosphere 2000. It is a very nice piece of meterological analysis software. At the time, it used "old" radar data which was low resolution (2mi x 2mi per pixel) and didn't do a lot of higher analysis such as upper air soundings and the such.

However, I did some digging and realized that since I purchased DA2000 I'm eligible to purchase an upgrade to the newest/latest/greatest version called Digital Atmosphere Equinox. It features full Doppler radar support, upper air analysis, and also upper air soundings between the actual upper air sites. I'm using the 60-day trial version of it and I have to say that I'm impressed with the progress that has been made with it. I don't care for the color/layout of the toolbox and such, but the core functionality works much better than the previous versions did.

I had been thinking that I'd buy Digital Atmosphere Equinox for myself as a birthday present but now I think I'll be buying a new monitor. I just have to decide if I want to go for the 17" or 19" widescreen. I was looking at "one more" CRT but after looking at the prices of LCD monitors now. Hell, I'd be crazy to consider getting a CRT. It'd only save me about $50 but it would be smaller and not a widescreen. The power savings would be a nice bonus.

I'm looking at the Acer AL1916WAB 19" Widescreen.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for a good dependable LCD monitors?
