Wow....this was dead on...

Sapphire
You are most like a Sapphire!

Dark, mysterious - but unforgettable. You have a deep beauty. Delicate, and shy you try to stay away from the limelight but often your intelligence puts you in at the deep end. You're like a Sapphire, because, your beauty is priceless.

You're intelligent, full of opinions, and not big-headed about it all.
Sometimes you need to put yourself out there, as you can be a bit shy.

Congratulations! You're the mysterious gem everybody wants to have and learn more about.

Which Precious Gem Are You?

Mostly for my Pagan friends...

I have two rocks...many of you know them or know of them...but I'm posting pix here to get some help with one of them.

One is a hematite concretion...I love that stone.

The other is the problem. I can't figure out what all is in it. It looks to be part basalt, part anorthosite, part jasper(?) and part something else.

Gallery with the pix

The first four are the hematite and the last five are the mystery stone.

I do know that the hematite is an incredible grounding/centering stone. The other stone seems to be a energy source as if it were a battery.

If you have questions about where/when/how the stones were found, post a comment here and I'll answer it.

A few pix from the holidays...

The first two are of my baby sister Asia...she turned 2 just five days before I turned 32. It's odd...I'm 20 years younger than my mom...and she's 30 years younger than me.

Family isn't all bad... The last picture is (get ready for some confusion) my Aunt Annette's husband Jim's daughter's (from his first marriage) husband Jonathon. He's 22 and works on a rice farm.

I hate people.

Okay. I'm officially cranked.

I went shopping and got what was on my list: milk, 2 spare keys for 's car, wiper blades for same car, a headlight for the same car, and a bottle of detergent so I could do laundry before leaving tomorrow.

I'm back home (obviously) after fighting with Pep Boys (not so bad) and Wal-mart for the keys, detergent and milk. It should not take 45 minutes in Wal-mart to get milk, detergent and have 2 keys made.

I'm going to clean the apartment until about 5:30...go pick up Sean from work, come home and have dinner with him, then I'm going to go out and do laundry so Sean can rest as he's seemingly caught my cold.

It's just the reverse of what I planned on doing (laundry during the day and cleaning the apartment tonight) but oh well.

It's one of those days...

My van isn't wanting to start. I think it's just been too cold for it. I've drained the battery some...so I'm letting it sit and seeing if I can start it later. Otherwise, I'll try starting it in the morning. It's supposed to up close to 40 tomorrow, so it may just start. If so, I'll drive it around and recharge the battery. I'll probably drive it out to Barrington just to get fuel moving in it and such. I need to look at 's car still as the left headlight is really dim...though I have a feeling it's just the bulb is going and needs to be replaced.

I've not done my laundry yet cuz of my van. I'm pondering seeing how many quarters we have and just hauling it downstairs. Otherwise, I'll just have to do it tomorrow.

Wednesday looks like crudola for travelling. 6-10" of snow around Paragould with ice/snow in Memphis starting Tuesday night and lasting into Thursday morning. I may be here for Xmas after all.

Overall, I feel like crap. Caffiene de-tox is the pits. I'm taking tylenol and trying to keep the headache at bay until I can drink enough water to flush out all the crud in my system.

I'll try to post some more optimistic news later tonight...

Today's news...from the WTMI TV 69 newsroom...

I got down to Comcast today and got my application and resume in...

T-Mobile managed to finally acknowledge that they got my phone back and are now crediting my account. My balance dropped from $165.04 to $47.87...much more managable (and realistic).

I'm drinking warm Sleepytime tea and hoping that this laryngitis is short term due to a particularly nasty coughing fit...or if it's going to last a few days due to the sheer amount of sinus drainage and crap from the weeklong cold I've had.

Tomorrow is doing laundry...madly folding laundry...then running down to Glen Ellyn to pick up a fellow LARPer for the Portage Garou game...then back up to Lincolnshire to pick up from work..then dash down to Portage (which is really played in Hobart).

All in all...it should be a fairly calm weekend as that's the only game going on this weekend.

I love I really do... I send him an e-mail ab...

I love I really do...

I send him an e-mail about 3:45 asking him about dinner (I'm cooking tonight) and that I was losing my voice since I've been coughing all damn day.

No more than 90 seconds after I hit send...Sean calls me.

He just wanted to check on me. So yeah, call the person who is losing his voice and sounds like ... pardon the mental sound you'll get with this ... Selma from The SimpsonsTM trying to sound like a seductive phone sex operator...

"Oh God...you sound awful" was Sean's response to hearing me as I thought "and you called me on the phone. Damn you!"

It's official.

I'm sick.

I'm craving White Castle Sliders.

I only crave them when I'm really sick.

Just lovely....

The cold that has been slowly trying to get me finally did so.

It got me hard after Wednesday nights massage session with Matt. I felt better after he was done. By the time I went to bed around 11:45, I was feeling bleh. I woke up in the middle of the night all stuffed up and feeling like I'd been hit by a truck.

I spent most of yesterday sleeping and trying to make this blasted cold go away faster. I know I'm in for a few more days of misery.

Tonight is Chicago Garou...Sunday night is Kenosha Garou. Not sure if I'll make either one right now.

Saturday it seems that Sean: is going to hang out with our friend Matt: so I'm not sure what exactly happened to our plans for Saturday but apparently they were changed/over-ruled.

I should be used to it by now.

Wrapping up the weekend...

Thinks back... Peabody...set the Wayback Machine for 3 Dec 2004!

*clouds of mysterious dihydrogen monoxide appear*

Friday was fairly boring. I spent a good chunk of the afternoon doing laundry.

Brian came down and hung out with Sean and I. We made a (relatively) late run out to Meijer at 11 to get a board game...and spent 45 minutes or so just being stupid idiots running around the store before finally picking up Monopoly.

Around 3am we called the 2nd game and declared Sean the winner. It was going to be a long protracted battle between Sean and I so I just conceded. I soundly trounced 'em in the first game ;)

On to Saturday...

In the morning, Sean had to run to the Driver's Service Station but got the hours wrong...and Brian and I ran to the post office so I could mail a couple of packages and get stamps to mail out my Yule cards this week. We got back and hung out with Sean a lil bit...napped and then Brian and I headed to Peoria.

We drove down and paid our $10 to drive through the 100+ floats decorated almost entirely with Christmas lights. I'll be posting a few pix here in the next day or two (behind an LJ cut thank you much!). We then ran over to the East Peoria Avanti's out on Rte 8.

Let me just say MMMMMMMMM

for clarity MMMMMMMMM

I had their world famous Gondola. If you've ever had one, you know exactly what I mean. Brian had lasagna. A nice casual sit down Italian dinner...and the total for both of us with beverages... $15.10 How's that for value!

We then drove back up to Chicago and crashed out back at our place. Sean got home about 3:30am from a party he was invited to and crashed out.

And moving on to Sunday...

We got up at 10am and got ready to head off to Glen Ellyn to pick up fellow Garou player Jim P. and saw Brian off on his drive back up to Madison. We picked up Jim about 11:45 (only 15 minutes late) and headed down to Portage for Garou...had fun down there with my new character in the game.

Drove back to Chicago around 7:30 with Sean and another player Brando in the back, Jim and I up front. We dropped off Sean and Brando at the Fight Shop downtown for the Changeling game and I drove back out to Glen Ellyn to drop Jim off at home. We stopped at Wendy's for dinner and shot the shit for about an hour.

I headed out from Jim's place about 10:30 and realized I'd get back up to Wheeling at 11:15 and have to leave about 11:30 to drive down to Chicago to pick up Sean. So instead I just drove back to Fight Shop and caught the last 15 minutes of the Changeling game.

I made Sean drive home as I was getting really tired and I was starting to feel what feels like the onset of a cold kickin in. I came home, took some NyQuil and crashed out.

And today...I got up and took Sean to work. Came home, cleaned up the apartment some, got called in 2.5 hours early for a job interview which went really well, and managed to call around about getting the brakes done on Sean's car. I've not gotten a nap in today as much as I'd love to, but I figure that I'll just go to bed early tonight and I'll sleep well.

That's it for now...

Apt Living Rule #87

Report something needing fixed (in today's case, the stove baking element had died deader than dead).

Call it in at 3pm...and lay down to take a nap because you aren't feeling well.

Voila! Handyman shows up at 3:30 just as I dozed off.

The upside, we have a working oven that doesn't generate sparks all over when you turn it on...

The downside, I'm still tired and still don't feel well.

I think I'm entering the opening battle of a cold war...

Yule cards...

If you'd like a Yule card from me, now is the time to post a comment here with your postal address...

I have some of you already...so if I have your address already it, I'll just ignore it.

Comments will be screened...no "exposed" addresses.

Deadline is next Wednesday 12/8 ... after that, no guarantees that cards will arrive by Yule.

*wow*

Just got a VM back from Mark regarding why the server that hosts Stockyjock.com, KenoshaGarou.com and my e-mail has been non-responsive sporadically over the last week.

Turns out that someone is blasting the machine with >4Mb/sec...

At first, we thought it might be someone trying to mine/mirror/copy one or all of the sites on the machine, but all the traffic is *inbound* not outbound. So it looks like we're getting hit with a massive DoS attack.

Oh. Joy. More news later as I get it...

Wowie...

NPR story about UCC Ad...

NBC and CBS refused to air it...as it was too "controversial" and the NPR story was quite good as well focusing on the current political climate and how big media is likely to cow down before it rather than invoke the few, but very outspoken, voices of the far right.

Watch the ad....it's very good.

I'm not even a Christian and I think it's a great message.

A bad blonde joke...

Q. Did you hear about the new blonde paint?

A.It's not real bright, but its cheap, and spreads easy
