I'm sick (physically)

Well, it’s official. I’m sick. I have a nasty head/chest virus.

I feel like my head is going to explode, my ears feel like they are going to shoot off my head, and I’ve got the nagging cough that won’t quit.

As it’s viral, the Urgent Care prescribed Tylenol with Codiene and suggested NyQuil. Nothing out of the ordinary there...until the doctor suggested the Tylenol w/ Codiene taken at the same time as the NyQuil.

“You’ll curl up in a corner and get a good few hours of sleep.”

It made me smile...that and they finally brought me a warm blanket after I’d been freezing for two hours.

I’m off to bed. I feel like hell and I’m supposed to go to Portage tomorrow for Garou. I really want to go, but not in this condition. I’m going to have to call in some $$ that’s owed to me and get my NyQuil and prescription tomorrow. Thankfully, neither one is that expensive.

*waves a paw and falls into bed*

Good news...bad news

I’m back. Comcast was here today and installed the cable TV and broadband internet.

Finally. Three weeks without access at home makes me really cranky.

That’s the good news.

The bad news...

The brakes on my truck went out. I’m going to have to take the truck in and spend a pile more money that I don’t have. Oh just fuck me now.

All in all, Elgin is working out well aside from the commute. Matt (no LJ) is a great roommate/landlord. *woo*

I’m feeling more balanced and calmer than I have in a long while.

More later when I’m finally caught up with LJ, mail, slashdot, and other such net goodies.

I’m back on IM full time now again as well (aside from when I’m at w*rk).

Cleaning, packing, and off-line time...

Okay. I’ve gotten the cleaning done to make way for me to start packing up my life. The only problem I’m having right now is that Sean was out most of the night at the Gary Vampire LARP. I was in bed at 9p and got up at 4:30 this morning.

Things to do:

Garbage from living room and kitchen: done
Dishes: almost done
Kitchen swept and mopped: done
Bathroom cleaned: started (on break from that)

Laundry: later w. Sean
Packing: *panicked scream*

So far so good. The cleaning has come along nicely.

I set up an appointment with Comcast to install cable and internet in Elgin on 21 May. I can cancel said appointment at any time without charge.

Comcast: Cable install is $50, Internet is 49.95/mo, TV is 15.99/mo ... 3 IPs 9.95/mo

Our other option is: Fox Valley Internet’s wireless service...

$49.99/mo, $50 setup, same speed as Comcast. 4 /static/ IPs $20/mo.

I have to talk to Matt today. I’m heavily leaning towards Fox Valley Internet. The question is how soon can they get out and install it and how much do we have to pay up front.

What this all means, I will have very limited e-mail access from work until we get some form of internet installed in Elgin. If you need to get in touch with me, call my cell number or text message me. I can’t really answer my phone at work, but I can check messages and return urgent calls on my break.

Back to cleaning, I need to empty the dishwasher and put in the last of the dirty stuff, then the bathroom, then to start packing stuff up. Oh boy. I’m. so. excited. Packing sucks. Unpacking sucks more.

Big Bear Update

Long time no type...

From the good news dept
I started a new job Monday as a customer service representative for AVTS. We are the authorized repair depot for Apollo Presentation products.

I like my job. It’s challenging with all the details of all the different products and options...but at the same time, there are long stretches of nothing. I don’t mind the occasional breather where you get a surprise 15 minutes to catch your breath...but those 15s and 30s....a few times a day...and it’s utterly distressing. May through July is our slow season...which is good as it will let me learn everything while we are slow. I should have the product line, pricing, and all that down solid by the end of the summer.

Beyond that, I’m moving out to Elgin this weekend. If you have my cell number, you know how to get ahold of me. Hopefully, I’ll have Comcast out before Sunday so I’ll not be without internet at all.

From the bad news dept
The last week or so, I’ve felt very lonely. I think part of it was hanging out with :: Brian last week. It reinforced that I had pushed him too hard but yet I do have feelings for him. I’d like a chance to actually date him without the pushing, but I think I killed that chance.

I’ve also come to realize that I really have very few friends here in Chicago. People I thought were friends have turned out not to be. I think that’s part of the reason I want to move back to Minnesota. I had friends there. Yes, they are still my friends, but it’s not the same when you can’t hang out with them or meet up for a cuppa.

Overall...
I feel like I’m finally making that new start that I’ve been needing to make.

I’m moving to Elgin and rooming with someone that I don’t have a romantic interest in...
I have a new job which is going well so far.

Just gotta get my shit together...and I think I’m finally getting it done.
