Where are we going...and why are we in this basket?

It's official.

I'm going to hell.

I installed a missing MS-Windows DLL so I could run ByteBlaster (Weather Data Ingest Engine) in 'emulation' under Linux. I have VMWare installed...but I figure, if I can save 160mb of RAM...

Now if only it worked as well as it does in VMWare...

The ingest engine seems to be having problems with timing 8-\

The 'Housekeeper' module doesn't seem to like me either.

Funny, they both run great as seperate applications. If I keep them in their "catch-all" application that does extra things (like notify you of events you set (i.e. warnings for your county, etc) they are chunky and Housekeeper barely runs.

I think I may be stuck living with a 192mb of RAM and a good chunk of CPU dedicated to VMWare (running Byteblaster and Digital Atmosphere) or I'm gonna have to learn some damn fast scripting. Though, if I used something like a basic text widget, I could scan the incoming data file and pop up things I want to see...ideally, I'd like to have it pop up the box and then print the file. They are basic plain text...so it shouldn't be too hard.

Now if only I could get a data ingest engine for Linux. It can't be that hard...
