It's a cold rainy night here in Chicago so I'm curled up in my big blue, black, and grey afghan that
I just loaded up the novel that I'm trying to write, which is tentatively titled Life's A Beach and I realized something when I loaded it. It's in Helmet 10pt and I've hit 40 pages. When I shift it down to the size of the printed page, it's almost 70 pages.
I didn't realize I was really that far along. I re-read it and when I got to the end, I found myself wanting more. I was kinda scared by this as it's my novel and they are "my" characters...and I should know what's going on...
It's just a nice feeling when you realize that you're being pulled into your own writing like that...

It just goes to show that you're NOT the "hack" writer you keep insisting you are -- the story's grown by leaps and bounds ever since you started writing it. The people have become real people. So much so, perhaps, that that may be WHY you're not sure where it's going -- they're no longer just puppets, but now "lives" -- strangely 'nuff they seem to do their own thing. ^o^
Well, it was a good scared ... as I realized that I'd actually written to the point that it did seem like real people. I've grown quite possessive of them and I know how they should act and behave. I know what's not in character for them. I still say it's not great writing...but it's definately coming along.
You've not read the latest changes/mods to it. I totally fixed the kludge at the end of chapter two...it now smoothly flows into chapter 3.
I'm very happy with how it's going...I think I might even finish it this year.
Man I can't wait to read the rest of it my self :) Hurry up n finish it. I expect you to sign my copy when it comes out too :)
