A new day...a new outlook

After talking to 's mom last night, I feel somewhat better.

I had my 2nd glucose level today. 202. Still way too high, but lower.

I have to set up an appointment this week at the Diabetes Centre.

Much of what I have to do for diet modification is reading labels, watching sugar intake, and portion management.
Portion management is going to prove to be the most difficult part of all of this. One of my dearest friends summed it up best "Well, you know you are the queen of super-size".

I was good today. I fixed a single portion of spaghetti and had 1/2 cup of sauce with it. I was surprised that by eating it slowly (over 20 minutes) I was actually comfortably full. Six hours later, I'm starting to think about dinner.

It won't be easy, but it won't be as difficult as I thought.

A huge thank you to everyone who has commented/e-mailed/called me.

In other news...

I should be hearing from Best Buytomorrow or Wednesday about my job.

All in all...it's been a rough start to the week, but it's looking up.

So, what's the best food for you that you'll have no trouble adjusting to? What will be the one food that you'll have to unconditionally give up?

It's not so much abstinence.

It's moderation. I have to learn portions. I can't be the Super-Size Queen any more. *laugh*

All in all, it's not that difficult, I just have to watch what I'm eating. I can still have pasta and other things I love, but I have to have a "normal" portion, not the "big bear" portion.

I should watch that myself. My grandfather was diagnosed with diabetes last eyar. My dad the year before that.

I should probably get tested or try and change things now.
